Maximum Email Attachment Size

Q.

What is the maximum allowed size for an email attachment?

A.

Please keep in mind that email is not an ideal file transfer method. Emails with large attachments consume unnecessary amounts of mail server resources. There are better ways to transfer large files.

We currently do not allow sending of emails that are larger than 10MB. But keep in mind that even if your file is less than the maximum, the mime encoding in the email may significantly increase the email size.

Also remember that the person you are sending an email to may not be able to receive large attachments. Although Gmail boasts a limit of 25MB, many people have a limit of 5MB or less and your message won't be delivered. It is generally recommended not to email files larger than 2MB.

If you need to share large files, consider using another service designed for this. We don't endorse these services but they may prove useful:
